The pitch dried out enough to pass the Refs match day pitch inspection for the game to go ahead as we welcomed our friends from Ferring to UBMF.
Gunny and Leo were rested and Callum given an extra week to recover from injury as the opportunity was taken to give squad members valuable match time with a hectic period of important games coming up, including a debut call up for 16 years old Joe Futers who impressed in training.
A burst of 3 goals had quickly given us the upper hand early on, and a string of misses. Chris Barnett was impressing with 2 early on, and Evan Short was rewarded for his hard work with a neat finish.
Barnett completed his hat trick, Kris added his 29th of the season before being replaced by Futers on the hour, and a delightful chip from Jonny took us to a dominant lead. The foot came off the gas, and we got disappointingly sloppy as Ferring scored a late consolation goal on the counter attack. FT 6-1.
The 3 points moved us to 7 points behind leaders Monty Villa. Copthorne continued the chase with a convincing 6-0 win away at lowly Rottingdean, while our next opponents Jarvis Brook suffered a surprise defeat at Brighton Electricity. We can expect a full throttled reaction from Brook next Saturday at UBMF.
