Going into a match against fellow title contenders without 5 first team regulars Trower, Jamieson, Towse, Tapscott and Taylor dropped to the bench after last weeks non appearance, proved an surmountable hurdle for us to climb, as we slipped to a disappointing defeat.
3 defensive errors that led to goals did not help, but that shouldn’t take away from the performance of Copthorne. They had already smashed the post twice before opening the scoring, and could have been out of sight at half time.
We improved in the second half with Kris converting from the spot after Chris Barnett was hauled down after being put through, and we enjoyed a better second half but never really troubled the keeper.
Chris Barnett showed good glimpses of his potential, but otherwise we were short of our best on and off the field. All about what happens next…..move on to Rustington, away.
